Visited Kume Island of Kumejima in summer of 2019, its one of the few places on earth that one can detach themselves from the hustle bustle of everyday life. Being in I.T in tech, I found this to be the perfect getaway holiday for me.

Do not visit if not Japanese. Dirty beaches, run down infrastructure, most activities/tours are not foreigner friendly.

It takes about 30 minutes to get there by plane from Naha Airport. The scenery along the way is amazing, and it feels like a fun little sightseeing flight. I didn't have any particular destination in mind, and since my return flight was in three hours, I decided to walk from the airport to a nearby place called Shinri Beach. It's close, but it was hot and tiring. Incidentally, there wasn't a single person walking around. There were a few people playing in the sea on the beach, but it felt a little lonely. If you're not planning on enjoying marine sports or anything else and just wandering around, it might be a little confusing. 😅 That said, it's also great to just relax and enjoy the beautiful sea and sky. There's also a restaurant (shop?) near the beach, which was open even though there were no people around, which was a relief. I was able to cool off, drink a beer, and enjoy the sea and sky for a while. Next time, I'll definitely come back with a specific purpose in mind. 😂
