Founder, Your JP Adventure
My wife and I started planning our first Japan trip back in 2022. Like a lot of people, we cobbled it together from spreadsheets, screenshots, and a long stack of browser tabs. Nothing quite fit.
We followed the standard itinerary, the one every blog quietly agrees on, and pretty quickly something felt off. We were ticking boxes more than actually being in Japan. Long train days, no downtime, and a creeping feeling that we'd flown halfway round the world to chase someone else's highlight reel.
We weren't experiencing Japan in a way that was meaningful - we were just ticking boxes.
When we went back for three months, we tried something different. We picked a handful of bases and stayed put in each for at least a few nights, treating them as launchpads for smaller trips nearby that didn't cost a full day on a train. It completely changed the shape of the trip. We came home tired in the good way - genuinely immersed, not exhausted.
Our most recent trip was a lot shorter, but planned the same way, and honestly we enjoyed it more than the original three-week sprint. Every friend and family member we've since handed the approach to has come back saying the same thing.
So Your JP Adventure is, more or less, the tool we wish had existed in 2022. Considered, deliberate and built around the kind of trip you actually want - not the one a stranger online thinks you should take. Wherever your version of Japan is hiding, we hope this helps you find it.
